One day in Habana

In just one day we explore the beauties and peculiarities of Havana by e-bike, beside the classic American cars, “bicitaxis”, or horse-drawn carriages!

On our e-bikes we go through places where history, culture, local people and the style of life find each other, waiting to be discovered.

At 9 am our guide awaits us with the e-bikes in the park Mariana Grajales, calle 23 / entre C y D, La Habana / Vedado, named after the mother of the revolution´s hero General Officer Antonio Maceo (1845-1896). As an alternative, an individual meeting point can be settled for closed groups. After a short introduction to the e-bikes, client’s bike adjustments to each individual height and some general information about the roads and rules of Cuban traffic, we are ready to begin our discovery-trip with the e-bikes. As you will quickly notice, the means of transportation in Cuba are different from what we are used to.
We start our tour towards the animated and historic Habana Vieja. We pass the Callejón de Hamel, the center of the Afro Cuban Santeria scene in Centro Habana and stop at La Guarida. The restaurant La Guarida is among the highlights of Havana, and has become famous due to the movie 'Strawberry and Chocolate', which was nominated for the Oscars in 1993, since then it can be found on the Bucket List of backpackers and celebrities. If you have enough time in Havana, you should make at least one evening trip to the roof of La Guarida, to enjoy one or more cocktails, and if still time left, you should also taste the cuisine. A reservation for dinner is recommended, since there is usually a great demand.
We continue our tour and make stops at the Capitol, the Central Park and the Grand Theater to get into the historic center of Havana and its unique atmosphere. We stop at the “Perfume House” and the Fortress “Castillo de la Real Fuerza”. In the more historical places of the city, we frequently must walk next to our e-bikes, as we are not allowed to ride in narrow streets with many tourist. The most important places are: Plaza Vieja, Plaza San Francisco de Asís, Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza de Armas. Afterwards we will cycle coolheaded the Paseo del Prado. Lunch will be at a somewhat hidden restaurant in Habana Vieja or Centro Habana. The specific location always depends on our velocity of pedaling and the street conditions. Of course, we must not miss the Malecón during our trips through Havana. Beginning with the “Hotel Nacional”, we will pass the elegant residential area of Vedado with its plenty of architectural diversity. We will be cycling on the street Calle 23, not far from the Rampa and finally reach, via the Avenida Paseo, the historic revolution square. Here we can feel with a certain sensitivity the atmosphere that must have obtained when Fidel gave his eloquent speeches to more than a million Cubans. On the way back to our starting point, we make a final stop in an appropriate place, with a cocktail, beer, water or soft drink, to review the obtained impressions. This tour is the perfect mix of our special tours "Cuban Revolution", "Hang like Hemingway", "Havana Street Art", and "The Bay of Havana", not with the usual intensity, nevertheless with a bit of everything, including food and drinks.
