Capital culture, Caribbean harbour life, Habana Vieja, Habana Centro, El Capitólio, Plaza de la Revolución, Parque Central, cigars, Mojitos, Vedado, Jaimanitas, Marina Hemingway, Miramar, Santa Fé, Baracoa... Discovering in two intensive days, barely beyond the classic tourist routes, the metropolis La Habana in perhaps the most impressive way.
You arrive at your accommodation in La Habana one day before our first e-bike trip. You stay there for the next 3 nights and therefore do not have to take your luggage along the tours. The first trip, in the morning after, leads you into the heart of La Habana. Do not worry about the city traffic, because as our customers always say, these e-bike tours can only be done like this in Habana. Having in mind that we are still in a capital, we notice that there is very little and disciplined traffic. You directly dive into the city’s life and will need a lot of storage to safe and process the made experiences.
On the second day we put on a completely contradictory program. So close to the metropolis and yet the deepest rural life. We pedal with our electric accompaniment along the coast toward the west of La Habana, until we reach the province of Artemisa. One thing is already promised in advance, the intensity of the impressions will not subside, they are just completely different, and otherwise it would not be a contrast.
Day 1) Our guide aspects you with the e-bikes at 09:00 am in front of your hotel or your Casa Particular. We always try to accommodate our groups together and in before tested lodgings. Nevertheless you should keep in mind that Cuba has its charm of luxury from a mostly historical point of view. Anyway we want you to be able to start your tours very relaxed. After a short introduction about the e-bikes, client’s bike adjustments to each individual height and some general information about the roads and rules of Cuban traffic, we are ready to begin our discovery-trip with the e-bikes. As you will quickly notice, the means of transportation in Cuba are different, at least as we are used to.
We start in direction of Centro Habana, the former Hilton Hotel, which was named Habana Libre shortly after the revolution, and the Hotel Nacional, where the Mafia used to be at home. Along the Malecón, which is as many people say, the most beautiful promenade in the world, we head for Habana Vieja. We visit the most famous and beautiful places of Habana.
The bikes should stay, if possible, at your place of stay, to be recharged for the next ride. We provide the chargers and you can fill up your battery. The evening is of course at leisure and with pleasure we will give you recommendations for a dinner.
Day 2) On this day we start again at 09:00 am at the same place. Today our longing moves us towards the other direction of Havana. The west welcomes us with its own character. We visit the Museo of KHCO, an artistic-social-community-project of GOOGLE. We cross the embassy district and encounter the magnificent buildings of a time when money played no or rather the biggest role in Cuba. Of course, we will not miss Fusterlandia and Marina Hemingway on this tour. Our destination is Baracoa with perhaps the best fish restaurant in the region. Along the coastal road through fishing villages you will get the feeling of being in the deepest interior of Cuba. Once at the sea you can, of course, take a swim. Snorkelling and swimming in crystal clear water, watching the fishes and sea urchins accompanied by a, for Cuba extraordinary, culinary meal with a cold drink, can quickly arise the desire to stay longer in this almost paradisiac place, but unfortunately we have to go back. Along the Carretera Panamericana we pass the Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina, the largest medical university in the Caribbean to finally return to our accommodation. The “La Estrella pequeña de la Habana” comes to an end.
