You arrive at your place of stay one night before our e-bike-tour starts. You spend all nights at the same accommodation, so you never have to carry your luggage on our daily trips.
We accommodate our guests only in before tested accommodations. Please keep in mind that Cuba’s charm of luxury is rather from a historical perspective and therefore we sometimes have to accept compromises with for us assuredly things. Even if it sounds somewhat paradoxical, we believe that, this unconventional facts can be, among other things, the reason for an incomparable experience. Our goal is that you can start our trips always relaxed, with the invitation to fully engage with your experiences made with the e-bikes, Cuba, the Cubans and our team.  After the first night you meet our guide in front of your Casa Particular. Hopefully you recognize him because of his bikes, his hat or his Cubykeshirt. After a short introduction to the bikes and adjustments to each individual height, you will receive some general information about the roads, our signs and rules of Cuban traffic. Now we are ready to begin our discovery-tour!

Expiry:

Day 1) We dedicate our first tour to the revolution – side by side with American old-timers, Bici- and Coconuttaxis as well as horse-drawn carriages, we discover the historical places of the revolution. The museums, monuments, parks and forts of Cuban history are distributed in more than 730 km². Cuba’s history is marked by colonialism, slavery and revolutions. The triumph of the bearded rebels over the armed forces of Fulgencio BatistaDas Jahr 1959 markierte mit dem Triumph der bärtigen Rebellen über die Streitkräfte von Fulgencio Batista, den letzten großen Wendepunkt in der Geschichte C ubas., in 1959, marked the last big turning point in Cuban history. Today we embark on the probably most existing time travel of the last centuries.

Havana with its 15 Municipios, which divide again into 105 districts, will mainly be the place of our forays for the following days. Arriving at Revolution Museum, we stand in front of the historical “Granma”, the ship witch used the 82 revolutionists to reach Cuba. They started, under the leadership of Fidel Castro, their 3 years liberation fight in the Cierra Maestra. There you learn a lot about young revolutionists who tried to storm the presidential palace. We stop that day at the anti-imperial tribune, right in front of the embassy of the United States of America; the perfect background to talk about the special relation, that exists for years between the two countries. The “Casa de las Américas” and the “Plaza de la Revolucion” must not be missing, the latter is repeatedly place of huge crowds. Along the Avenida de los Presidentes we pass monuments, honoured of various presidents and freedom fighters, such as Salvador Allende, Simon Bolivar, a freedom fighter from Venezuela and visit the impressive monument that was honoured to the second Cuban president and freedom fighter José Miguel Goméz. A consequence of the revolution is that nowadays all American vehicles at Cuba are from the time before 1960, a good reason to visit an old-timer garage and get an idea of the Cuban craftsmanship, as well as their purveyances of replacements.
Another revolutionary highlight of our daytrip is the birthplace of José Marti, national hero and revolutionist of the XIX century and hopefully one or two revolutionary Mojitos.

After reaching your accommodation we park our bikes while having a little battery-charge-excurse, so to have full batteries the next day. In the evening, after a two hours salsa course, we have dinner with a little accompanying program until we fall in to our beds and our backsides can finally recover for the upcoming tours.

Day 2) Today we start again at 09:00 am at, of course, the same place. Today our longing moves us into the other direction of Havana with the opportunity to take a swim in the sea. The west of Havana, welcomes us, by its own character. We cross Miramar and visit the Museo/Proyecto of KHCO, an Art-Social-Community project sponsored by Google. We cross the embassy district and encounter the magnificent buildings of a time when money played no or rather the biggest role in Cuba. We pass the former residential district of Fidel Castro, where nowadays most of his family still lives. Of course, we will not miss Fusterlandia and Marina Hemingway on this tour. Along the coastal road through fishing villages you will get the feeling of being in the deepest interior of Cuba. Once at the sea you can, of course, take a swim (if you bring your swimming suit) in it. Snorkelling (if you bring your snorkel) and swimming in crystal clear water, watching the fishes (if you brought fishes with you) and sea urchins accompanied by a for Cuba extraordinary culinary meal with a cold drink, can quickly arise the desire to stay longer in this almost paradisiac place, but unfortunately we have to go back. Along the Carretera Panamericana we pass the Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina, the largest medical university in the Caribbean to finally return to your accommodation. After having covered about 80 kilometres, you can of course relax on this evening, charge the bikes and, if necessary, immerse yourself in the nightlife. Abendessen individuell. Individual dinner.

Day 3) Our third daytrip is dedicated to Noble Prize winner Ernest Hemingway. Following the steps of his life and work in Cuba, we are heading to his formerly most important places in La Habana. The Hotel “Ambos Mundos”, where Ernest Hemingway used to live for a long time period during his first stay in Havana, can of course not be missed, as well as his farm “Finca Vigía” on the outskirts of the metropolis, which is faithfully restored with the support of an American Hemingway aid association. From 1940 to 1950, Finca Vigía was the winter residence of Ernest Hemingway. As a passionate fisherman and art lover, he spent a lot of time in the small fishermen village of Cojimar. Shortly after his arrival he already enjoyed the respect and affection of the fishermen in Cojimar, calling him affectionately "Papa".

In the restaurant “La Terraza in Cojimar”, where Hemingway used to eat, we will enjoy a cocktail while having a great view at the sea. The Bavarian Garden offers the opportunity to recharge our energy for the return trip, with almost original German curry sausages and French fries. The way back leads us via the Villa Panamericana to the fortress “El Morro”, which offers a magnificent view over the bay of Havana. From here we will cross the bay in an almost modern ferry and will finish our day with a delicious Mojito in the bar “Bodeguita del Medio”, where Hemingway loved to enjoy the supposedly best Mojito of the city. In the evening you are free to do whatever you are up to. It would be a pleasure for us to provide you with current recommendations for individual evening or night activities.

Day 4) On this day we start our discovery trip at 09:00 am toward the east side of the Havanan bay. The tour “La Bahia de La Habana” takes us with the Lanchitas across the water, to the partly forgotten side of the bustling metropolis. The eastern part of the bay has maintained its charm and originality, and is rarely visited by tourists as many do not even know how to reach there. This day will flood you again with impressions of the authentic Cuban daily life. In Regla, we are in the middle of the so called “Santeria” world, which was imported by the African slaves, and you get to see how La Habana used to protect herself against external attacks. We visit the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Regla. The impressions we make on our way around the bay towards El Cristo will remain unforgotten. Cojimar, at the east coast, must not be missed on our trip; this fishermen village was often frequented by Hemingway. El Cristo is waiting for us, with an unparalleled and unique view of La Habana. We have the opportunity to visit la Comandancia del Ché with its original furniture, in the Fortaleza San Carlos de la Cabaña and Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro before going back the other side of the bay by the ferry from Casablanca. Back in the metropolis, we will enjoy Indian or Cuban specialties at the Buena Vista Curry Club to recharge our energy. We cross a little longer the dockland area to finally return to our starting point. In the evening we will continue our salsa course followed by an internationally acclaimed dance show. Old timers will be our means of transport this evening.

 (ME)

Day 5) starts at 09:00 am and is characterized by the special Cuban culture, especially art, music religion (Santeria), universities, schools, thus education, industry, crafts and social projects. In the context of socialism, which has been practiced for now more than 60 years, we promise a great mix. Luckily just an experience and not to really comprehensible to us - a world for its own. We dive into real Cuban life with our e-bikes. Take a look at the Cuban art scene, which is often linked to the music scene and has at the same time connection to social projects - you just have to add the Afro Cuban Santeria and some other ingredients, mix them, lo and behold you have something that can be only found in Cuba! Connecting all this, is as we think, a Cuban uniqueness. Up-to-date Community Art and Social projects in Havana will be part of it, as well as the opportunity to take a look behind the scene. Visiting an industrial establishment, perhaps experiencing the rehearsal of a dance show… We stop at some of the most imposing and historic churches in Cuba, some of them were visited by the last 3 popes. To strengthen ourselves, we will also have a Cuban-cuisine cocking class, accompanied by a cocktail, and of course a rum tasting. We will eat our self-prepared diner. You will experience a slightly different cuisine, which gets its charm by the typical Cuban products.

The tour exemplifies very good, how tropical life, combined with socialist ideology, inspires and influences young contemporary art to find its own expressions and solutions in a social context in a previously unknown, new Cuba. At the same time, this process attracts many important foreign artists, who also shape Cuba's art scene. We zigzag through the picturesque streets and explore places whose appearance includes the handwriting of renowned artists such as the Frenchman Daniel Buren, the Cuban Salvador Gonzalez as well as many national and international artists who have participated in various art projects. Let it be in form of sculptures, murals, graffiti or streaks of colour.  A day, which sounds pretty full, but seems a little vague - the reason for this is that that we coordinate our operations always right currently with the projects, schools and universities, as they sometimes change location or are just not available at that time. We are happy to arrange a visit to a tobacco factory, which is always very impressive. The return trip will be arranged individually according to the last place of our activities and after our dinner you are welcome to have your free time ;-).

Day 6) takes the slogan „¡Vamos a la Playa!”. As usual, we start at 09:00 am, trying this time, to escape from the bustling city life of Havana. Tropical beaches, Caribbean sun and warm waters are waiting for us. We head towards the Playa del Este, the actual seaside of La Habana. We cross the Bahia de La Habana with either the Ciclobus or the ferry to get to the other side of the bay. The large tunnel under the bay must not be passed by motorcycles or bicycles. Once in Regla we head towards Guanabacoa, and stop at the Museo Municipal de Guanabacoa, where we learn something about the impressive history of the Afro-Cuban Santeria, and find the oldest car Cuba’s. We continue along the Independencia towards Santa Fé and Bacuranao. There we decide, depending on our velocity, whether we head to Santa Maria del Mar or Guanabo, so to have enough time for swimming. Depending on the beach, we will individually provide Cuban-style food on this day. You can order crayfish or grilled fish to your beach chair, fill your stomach with a sandwich a la Cubana or enjoy a fresh fruit plate. After our stay at the beach we make our way back to La Habana. We take foothills of Tarará, roam Alamar and Cojimar and will cross the bay from Casablanca to reach your accommodation. The evening will be free, you can end the evening culinary in your Casa or visit a beautiful Paladar in Havana. Of course, we will gladly provide you with current recommendations and, if you wish, reserve a table for you in one of the city's best Paladars. Unfortunately the time has come to pack again. Our Grande Estrella is coming to an end and you have to say goodbye to your electric chaperon. After a last night in your Casa your trip will hopefully continue in the unique Cuba or you start your return journey. We are happy to take care of any transfers to the airport, to the bus station or an old-timer trip into the country.

With pleasure we can organise extensions for swimming, diving, hanging, snorkelling or whatever you are up to.

A remark concerning the flexibility. We know that our e-bike tours do not offer much space for individual destinations, the days are really busy, but you always have the opportunity to coordinate your wishes with us. Whether you want to enjoy the beach for longer, visit a theatre or a museum, continue the tour for any reason with another vehicle or whatever you have on your mind, we will always show you as much flexibility as possible and try everything to adapt your stay also according to your wishes. We certainly will not always succeed, but mostly.
